About Us

Troop 3 is sponsored by First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN located next to King University at 701 Florida Ave. We have been continuously chartered since 1924 with the first charter dated in 1921. As such in 2019 we will celebrate our 95th year which is amazing considering the scouting in the United States began in 1910, only 109 years ago in 2019. We have been chartered with First Presbyterian Church the entire time and great appreciation for the support given to us by the congregation.

Our unit meets each Tuesday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Make sure to come about 15 minutes early because we begin promptly at 7. So far we have around 30 youth members divided into 3 patrols with a leadership patrol that is responsible for the overall operations of the troop. Yes, we are youth led and give responsibility of the program to the youth under adult supervision. We believe in operating in accordance with the patrol method to teach leadership skills to our young men. The Senior Patrol Leader is the top youth leader and is elected from among their peers. When you visit our troop you can expect to see the SPL and his leadership team running the meeting while the adults maintain the administration of the troop.

Our unit serves youth from all over the Bristol area including Washington County, VA and Sullivan County, TN. Each month we plan an outing for our scouts to put into practice the skills they have learned during the meetings. We invite you to come attend a few meetings with our troop and with others and then decide which troop is a best fit for you and your family. We look forward to engaging your child in the scouting program.
